How many spaces do you put after a period? →

This is totally arbitrary, but I feel slightly vindicated. I’ve had this argument many times before, while proofing papers for graphic/communications design students. And, funny enough, the reasoning behind the number of spaces is entirely about type (which is what those kids spend a great deal of their time studying).
